My research, teaching, and public scholarship are situated at the intersections of Islamic law and ethics, Muslim theological and mystical discourses and practices, gender and sexuality studies, and critical theory. My Ph.D. in Religion (Islamic studies) is from Duke University, where I also completed a graduate certificate in the Program in Gender, Sexuality, and Feminist Studies and minored in Jewish Studies.
